are other important areas in or around Himeji City. These areas
are easily visited during a day trip and are rich with historical
significance.

The present main hall was built in the mid-Muromachi
Era (about 600 years ago), and the worship hall was repaired
in the Edo Era (about 300 years ago). Two buildings here
are designated as Important National Cultural Properties. Details: Click here
Zuiganji-Temple was founded by a Korean Buddhist
priest, Eben, in the 7th century, by the order of Prince
Shotoku-Taishi. The ceiling drawings in the Main Hall maintains
the brightness of the original colors after 300 years. Details: Click here
Its name literally means 'Male Mountain',
but it is actually a small hill west of Himeji Castle. There
was a time when Otokoyama coupled with Himeyama (literally meaning
princess mountain), where the castle is now located, and was an
object of worship. You can find places around the hill to

This is the biggest cemetery park in Himeji. It is full of flowers and greenery, and it is a good place to take a walk when the weather is nice. You can find the Main Stupa which contains ashes of Siddhartha Goutama, which were presented by the late Indian Prime Minister Nehru.
